Our 2025 Questionnaire
Fredericksburg is on the cusp of an important City Council election, and Fifteen Minute Fredericksburg is committed to ensuring our city's future is one that is more walkable, bikeable, and livable for everyone. We believe in a Fredericksburg where daily life can be conveniently lived on foot or by bike, supported by high-quality infrastructure, safe streets, affordable housing, and a vibrant local economy. To that end, we submitted a questionnaire to all City Council candidates, and we were incredibly impressed to receive thoughtful responses from every one of them. We want to thank each candidate for their time and dedication to our community.
As a non-partisan, grassroots organization, we have historically focused on issue advocacy rather than endorsements. However, we feel that this election is of particular importance. Our mission, to create a more connected, accessible, and sustainable city, has never been more vital. After careful deliberation, we decided that providing a clear voice on which candidates best align with our core principles would be a valuable contribution to the electoral process. Our endorsements are at the bottom of this article along with links to all unedited responses from each candidate.

Our Endorsements
While we recognize that this election involves many complex issues, our endorsement is focused squarely on our mission. After a thorough review of their responses and public platforms, Fifteen Minute Fredericksburg is proud to endorse:
Ward 1: Kenneth Gantt

We endorse Kenneth Gantt for his strong advocacy of a Complete Streets policy, which ensures infrastructure is designed for all users, including pedestrians and cyclists. He supports using future tax revenue to create a Community Benefits Fund to improve neighborhoods and a multi-pronged approach to affordable housing, including inclusionary zoning. His policy positions consistently align with our organization's goals for a more walkable, accessible, and equitable city.
Ward 2: Joy Crump

We endorse Joy Crump for her nuanced understanding of pedestrian safety, considering the needs of all community members including children and the elderly. She champions using new revenue to improve existing infrastructure and accelerate plans that connect outlying neighborhoods to downtown. Her focus on redeveloping existing spaces for residential or mixed-use purposes offers a creative, mission-aligned solution to the city's housing challenges. She is excited about the growth of the city and brings fresh ideas for how to support that growth.
Ward 3: Susanna Finn

Susanna Finn's endorsement stems from her commitment to complete streets and her vision of extending walkability to all neighborhoods. She proposes establishing two dedicated trust funds, for sustainability and affordable housing, to strategically use new revenue from data centers. Her time on the Planning Commission has demonstrated her alignment with the Fred15 mission.
Ward 4: Chuck Frye

We're proud to endorse Chuck Frye for Ward 4. He has a proven track record of voting for and implementing ideas that align with our mission, including advocating for new pedestrian safety features like crosswalks and speed tables. His commitment to creating a more walkable and accessible Fredericksburg, as well as his support for smart, mixed-use development, makes him an excellent choice to continue leading the city forward.
We believe these candidates have demonstrated the vision and commitment necessary to help lead Fredericksburg toward a more livable and accessible future for all residents. We encourage you to review their responses and engage with this election to help shape the city we all want to live in.
